Utility Worker Job Description
Bauer Infrastructure is seeking a hardworking and reliable Utility Worker to support daily field operations across our construction and underground utility projects in Martell, NE, 15 miles southwest of Lincoln. The ideal candidate brings a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to handle physical, fast‑paced tasks safely and efficiently. A successful Utility Worker at Bauer helps support water, sewer, and storm utility installation, keeps job sites clean, organized, and productive, and works closely with the crew to ensure quality and safety on every project.

Utility Worker Responsibilities:

Support utility installation by maintaining a well‑organized, safe, and compliant job site.
Perform utility‑specific tasks such as dewatering, trench preparation, and assisting with utility layout.
Load, unload, and stage materials, tools, and utility components to keep crews productive.
Manage and track small tools and equipment throughout the day, ensuring proper care and storage.
Inspect tools and equipment for safe operations and coordinate repairs by tagging and reporting issues.
Prepare work areas for water, sewer, and storm utility installation, including trench access and safety setup.
Clean, fuel, and lubricate tools, equipment, and machinery to support field operations.
Install temporary safety systems such as trench protection, barriers, and rails.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance and be present at the assigned work site.
Follow all company safety rules and use proper PPE.

Utility Worker Requirements:

Work well independently and as part of a team.
Problem-solving abilities.
Communicate clearly with crew members and supervisors.
Stay focused and work efficiently throughout the day.
Know when to request assistance when a job exceeds their experience and seeks guidance from others.
Physical endurance and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended period.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Other duties, as assigned.
