Pipelayer Job Description
Bauer Infrastructure is seeking a dependable and skilled Pipelayer to support our underground utility and construction operations in Martell, NE, just 15 miles southwest of Lincoln. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience in pipe installation, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast‑paced field environment. A successful Pipelayer at Bauer can accurately install, align, and prepare piping systems while working collaboratively with the crew to maintain quality, safety, and productivity on every project.
Pipelayer Responsibilities:
- Align, position, and place pipe sections inside trenches.
- Grade and level trench bases using hand tools and equipment.
- Lay pipe per blueprints and specifications, ensuring joints are correctly sealed and connections meet quality standards.
- Cut, bevel, and modify pipe materials using approved hand tools or power saws.
- Verify pipe alignment and slope using levels, lasers, or other measurement tools.
- Backfill and compact trenches safely and efficiently as installation progresses.
- Handle, lift, unload, and transport pipe and related materials to support daily operations.
- Assist the crew with general site tasks, including dewatering, excavation support, and safety setup.
- Follow all company, OSHA, and site‑specific safety policies, including proper PPE use and safe work practices.
- Maintain clear communication with the crew leader regarding progress, site conditions, and potential issues.
- Perform additional duties assigned to support project needs.
Pipelayer Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of trench safety and confined space procedures.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring equipment.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical endurance and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in trenches for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Attention to detail and the ability to detect installation issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
